Meet Heidi – or maybe you already have! Heidi, the Eastern Box Turtle, was rescued by Dr. Duke in 1995. Before coming under Dr. Duke's care, she had been living in a Tupperware container in a basement, refusing food and appearing grey in color. Now, Heidi follows a strict worm-and-tomato diet and has developed the vibrant orange coloring we all know and love.
Heidi not only greets clients and patients but also makes educational trips with Dr. Duke to classrooms and other events. A true diva now, Heidi enjoys daily spa treatments and insists on having a variety of faux plant décor in her space. You may even notice that she swiped a name badge from a former technician with the same name—what are the odds?
And when she’s approached in her cage, Heidi dances around excitedly, moving her legs in delight!
